Jazz music is heard and enjoyed in Lavapiés at Café Vivo El Despertar. Located in Torrecilla del Leal Street, 18 it´s not just a Jazz Club, it sure does look like one!

This venue, which is open seven days a week from 19:00 to 2:00 (2:30 on Fridays and Saturdays) has been supporting more than three decades programming fresh and good live shows on Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays sorrounded by an interior architecture and decoratios evoking the early years of Jazz.

 

With an exquisite modernist style, all its atmosphere is made up of original vintage items, whose contributions have been provided by the locals. A really beautiful and special place with its own personality, it´s a pleasure to be there by mid-afternoon to have a cup of tea or coffee or, even better, enjoy any concert held in such a cozy setting. It has been used as a rehearsal room for jazzmen who are now leading figures, who used to jam with local stars.

El Despertar opens it´s arms to Pop, Latin and Americana solo singers, Bossa or Boleros. Their special coffees (Dutch, carajillo, Cuban and Irish) are famous in town, as well as their Mojito and Caipirinha, among their wide selection of local and imported drinks.
